Early Childhood or ElementaryWhat type of job are you looking for? A teaching position that will allow me to exercise my years of training and experience. As a dedicated educator, I seek a position in the department of Early Childhood or Elementary. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? I speak English Language at the tertiary level. What State are you looking to work in and why? New Jersey, because I am drawn to the tranquility of the areas which I have visited in the past. What field do you currently work in? I am currently working in the primary/elementary department of a public school in Jamaica. However, I have been trained at the certificate and tertiary levels in early chilhood education. I also have a number of years experience teaching at this level. What fields have you worked in before? As a teenager, I worked as a seamstress. As a young adult, I worked as a receptionist at a health facility. What qualifications do you hold? A Diploma in Primary/Elementary Education obtained from the Mico University Teachers' College in Kingston,Jamaica. A Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Early Chilhood Education obtained from Temple University, Philadelphia in collaboration with Church Teachers' College in Manchester, Jamaica. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Formal education,because you are more marketable, and it is much easier to add skills to formal education than formal education to skills. Describe the benefits of working with others One is able to learn collaboration and teamwork in accomplishing tasks. Describe the benefits of working alone One learns to be independent, self-reliant and to work on your own initiative. What was your worst working experience? Honestly, I cannot recall any such experience. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? No man is an island, no man stands alone. In other words, unity is strength. What unique skills do you have? Venue decorating and preparation for functions, art and craft skills, I am also a very good listener. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? The coordinator of an early childhood institution. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The most interesting aspect of my field is to work with small children and see them being transformed into little geniuses. Masters in their own area: arts, reading, writing, etc. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Having to tell a parent that his/her child is not doing as well as the other children, and that this child may need to move to a special class. What are my core responsibilities as a teacher? Preparing lesson plans in all subject areas including arts and movements. Maintaining classroom management skills and an ability to keep students at task. Evaluating students' progress and support recommendations for further student development.
