how to apply for a nursing job in NorwayWhat type of job are you looking for? I am looking for a job- specifically cardiothoracic nursing in Norway. What nationality are you? A Filipino. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? I do speak English, Arabic and Tagalog. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I am interested to work in Norway because I heard that almost all of the places is still untouched by nature, quiet and less populated. Also I want to explore and gain new experiences from European country. What countries have you worked in? I have been working in Saudi Arabia since 1996 to present. What countries do you have a visa to work in? As of now, I have the visa to work in Saudi Arabia, and I have never tried to apply for another visa to work any place else. What field do you currently work in? I am currently working in Cardiothoracic Surgical ICU, been working for the same area for the past 15 years. What fields have you worked in before? I have not worked in any other area eversince I started nursing except CSICU. What qualifications do you hold? I am an ECMO certified nurse, Heart transplant as well as a Peadiatric and adult cardiothoracic nurse. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I consider both the formal education and skills are valuable because if you have the formal education and yet there's no practical or rather the bedside experience, you can never give your 100% care to the patient. In lieu with that it is not safe for the patient and for you as a nurse, even if you have the theories and also I do not think that you would know what you are going to do at the bedside when one situation arises.(ie. in codes) Regarding the skills or the practical side of nursing, though you have the skills and yet, you have a very limited theory about the said topic or area, you could not deliver the care needed and most of all you will not have the "critical thinking" to decide what to do in time of crisis. Describe the benefits of working with others You will develop the sense of time and most of all team work. A unit will never be the same without your colleagues' help. In this case, the saying "No man is an island" is applicable. Describe the benefits of working alone Working alone has a lot of benefits too because you would be able to apply your "critical thinking", and your decisions would carry the unit. Trust from the doctors and colleague will always be there and with it comes the great responsibility too. What was your worst working experience? Handling 2 intubated patients because of lack of staff. It was actually a late admission and ended up with a code thus having 2 intubated patients. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? That nursing is a never ending education. You get to explore from one case to the other, and each and everyone of the patients have their unique signs and symptoms though if you read from the book, one patient may present all the signs and symptoms of a case yet one would be different and yet they have the same diagnosis. Nursing is not just one day education. What unique skills do you have? EKG interpretation, PALS, ACLS provider, care of post operative patients specially the post Open Heart, pre and and post Cardiac cath and to post PTCA patients, removal of chest drains from patients who had CABG operation. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? To continue as a cardiothoracic surgical ICU nurse. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? paediatric cases What are the least interesting aspects of your field? I would say that the least interesting is to dwal with the post cardiac cath patients who are stable.
