A: 1999/2000-Foundation Training in Paediatrics and Neonatology for 6 months & Obstterics & Gynaecology for another 6 months in Teaching Hospital, Rathnapura, Srilanka. 2001/2002-Resident House Officer in General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Dermatology & Emergency unit.worked in each unit 3 months on rataion Basis in Teaching Hospital, Rathnapura, Srilanka. 2002/2003-Fondation Training in Anaesthesia & Intensive care for 6 months and then worked as a Junior Doctor Anaesthetist in General Hospital, Chilaw & National Hospital , Colombo, Srilanka. 2003/2006-Worked as an Anaesthetist & ICU Medical Officer at Ashroff memorial Hospital, kalmunai, Srilanka. 2006/2011-Senior Anaesthetist & ICU Medical Officer at Base Hospital, Akkaraipattu, Srilanka. At the same time Has been working as a part time General Practitioner in Genius Hospital (pvt) ltd, Akkaraipattu, Srilanka, since 2008. Q: Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? A: Both are very valuable. without education cannot understand the methods, purpose, and correct techniques of skills.both are inter related. Makes more experience & confident in the field. can manage the time better & make a own time frame to work. Q: What was your worst working experience? A: I gave My first Spinal anaesthesia to a preganant women for an elective Cesarean section, she got a High spinal block and about to arrest but fortunately she saved with the help of my consultant in 2002 during my foundation training of Anaesthesia. Q: What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? A: the humanity! Q: What unique skills do you have? A: Better communication skills and superb patient care Identifying and act quickly for critically ill patients. Intra Venus Cannulation, Central Venus Line Insertion or intra Oseous cannulation- in most of difficult situations. Q: What are the most interesting aspects of your field? A: Anesthetizing patients who have medical challenges! Q: What are the least interesting aspects of your field? A: usually patients are not aware about the importance of anesthetists. |
