Oregon - Summer Jobs

Hi. My name is Rose.

What type of job are you looking for?

I am looking for a summer job, preferably not in a boring office. I am hoping that it will be close to home, because most likely my mom will be driving me. :) It would be so awesome if it was a summer camp job, but if it's a normal job, that's cool too.

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

I speak English fluently. I am learning Spanish at school, so I know the basics. But I'm still not very good. :)

What State are you looking to work in and why?

Northern Oregon, or Southern Washington because that's the area I live in.

What field do you currently work in?

I am currently a high school student. But I have taken part in a couple of internships. And I'm an excellent baby sitter. :)

What fields have you worked in before?

I have worked in finance and child care.

What qualifications do you hold?

I am a hard worker. I have graduated Middle School, and half way through High School. I get along great with everyone I meet. And if for some reason I don't like someone, I'm good at hiding it. The last thing we want is tension in the work environment.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I think skills are more important. Education can teach you skills, but most skills are instinctive, or natural to your personality. Like, you can't learn how to be a nice person. It is a skill that either comes naturally or doesn't. I think that Formal education is good for looking impressive and learning new skills, but Skills you already have determine what kind of person you are.

Describe the benefits of working with others

I think that working as a team, or with other people, helps to develop friendships. And friendship makes for a happy work crew! Plus, if you have others there with you, you can learn with each other, and help each other to do the best they can. If you work alone, how are you going to learn from mistakes if no one is there to correct you?

Describe the benefits of working alone

If you work alone you don't have to worry about tension in the work place. Like, if Mr.Y and Mrs.X didn't like each other, then working together could make things awkward, thus showing up in your work. But if you work alone, you avoid that.

What was your worst working experience?

I worked at OnPoint Credit Union as an intern. The work was boring, but I did my job like everyone else. Unfortunately, my coworkers were rude, and they didn't respect me as an employee. It really hurt my feelings because I was doing their dirty work, but they didn't seem to appreciate it.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

I have learned that if you love your coworkers, you will love your job just a little bit more.

What unique skills do you have?

I am extremely nice, I get along great with everyone, I am a hard worker, it doesn't take me long to get a job done, and I believe that I would be a great addition to any work crew.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

My dream job is traveling the world, taking pictures, painting, writing stories, designing clothes and getting paid for it. I am a total art freak, and anything that I can do to channel my creativity, I would love.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

I am a student in High School, so I guess it would be History and Art class.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

I don't really like math. I am super good at it, but I don't enjoy it.

How old are you, and do you think you are mature enough to work professionally?

I just turned 16 yesterday, so I am ready for a job! I think that I am very professional. I will do the job, and get along with my coworkers. I am also really good with handling customers, and I think that that takes a bit of professionalism.

How can potential employers contact you?

You can email me at montereyrose@gmail.com and then we will go from there.
