Tourism - Front Desk at a hotel What qualifications do you hold? Masters in Early Childhood & Elementary Education Bachelors in Spanish Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I consider them of equal value because a skilled person would need to be constantly honing his craft or upgrading himself, thus a formal education would produce the competitive edge he needs to constantly upgrade himself to compete in a local or even global market. Describe the benefits of working with others It is my belief that 'iron sharpens iron'. thus when people come together a synergy is produced from the collection of experiences, intellects, talents, skills and ideas that is created when a group of people collaborate. If we all value what each other and what each person brings to the table, then this produces a productive work environment and harmonious working relationships. Describe the benefits of working alone Each of us needs time to reflect on our own abilities, weaknesses and strengths. A well adjusted person will see the value in accepting new challenges that stretches them beyond their present state. Working alone provides the opportunity for that person to improve in areas like time management, organization, and individual assessment and evaluation of their own performance and ability to accomplish a task. What was your worst working experience? Working as a receptionist answering telephones all day. I found I needed work that challenged my intellect, provided mobility and the opportunity to be creative. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? I have learned to believe in my own abilities and to never be afraid to take on new challenges. What unique skills do you have? I find that I am a 'trouble-shooter' and very good at assessing the needs of the group or institution. I always want to know how can we improve or do it better. I have excellent organizational skills and my artistic skills are best utilized in visual presentations and promotion/marketing. I also possess good people skills and enjoy motivating people. I have valuable experiences in public speaking too. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? My 'dream job' would be one where I have the opportunity to multi-task...in that I would be allowed creative control, be positioned to specially design a job-specific curriculum and given the opportunity to execute it, This could include the area of staff training or upgrading. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The thing of most interest to me is when a person recognizes their own growth and development as a result of my instruction. I am highly motivated by the progress of others. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? The drudgery of paper work. I recognize that keeping records is important but that is a task I would relegate to a secretary or personal assistant so that I could get on with the business of creating and teaching interesting lessons. How can potential employers contact you? I am a teacher in school between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It would be best to call me anytime after 5 p.m. or on weekends at 242-322-8497. |
