Security What nationality are you? born in new zealand but living in australia What languages do you speak (and at what level)? english What country or area are you looking to work in and why? papua new guinea, i have only heard good reports from people who have worked there and would love the chance to work in such a nice place with the people What countries have you worked in? new zealand, australia What field do you currently work in? security, head of security What fields have you worked in before? social work, youth work, counselling, farming, security, drug and alcohol counselling, offender management (prison service) What qualifications do you hold? dip counselling cert 2 & 3 security operations drug and alcohol studies behaviour modification staudies Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? i feel both formal and pratical skills go hand in hand as the balance of your life skills enhanced by your educational studies gives a better understanding when dealing with people in general Describe the benefits of working with others having the ability to talk with your peers about a given situation ie using their knowledge may give you a better outcome. also having the support of your team is important to me. Describe the benefits of working alone being able to get the job at hand done faster, working at your own pace without the hold ups of others, a feeling of satisfaction that you can perform in a sound matter both alone as well as in a team situation. What was your worst working experience? counselling people with drug and alcohol as teenagers then seeing some of the same people coming into the prison system as young adults. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? one needs to take a non judgemental approach to people and there choices in life What unique skills do you have? The ability to access any given situation, able to work under presser and remain focused,a non judgemental approach when dealing with people, What would you consider as your 'dream job'? To be honest i guess working overseas and learning another culture whilst working. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? some of the people and listening to there stories, as currently im employed as head of security in a Ingenious community at there local pub What are the least interesting aspects of your field? seeing day to day what Cannich some of the local people do to each other, what i mean by this is being the one who is first on site having to pick up the people and send them off to hospital after they have been beaten beyond recognition.
