Timor-Leste:Since independence the country is now embarking on Nation Building to improve living standards of its citizens. My contribution as an urban planner to plan and distribute resources for the benefit of local inhabitants would assist in Nation Building for the country. What countries have you worked in? Papua New Guinea and Malaysia. What countries do you have a visa to work in? None other than Papua New Guinea. What field do you currently work in? Physical Planning. What fields have you worked in before? Regional and Provincial Planning. What qualifications do you hold? - Diploma in Cartography - Diploma in Development Planning - MSc in Urban Development Planning. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I consider Skills to be valuable as it enables alot more people to acquire and equip themselves with necessary knowledge for employment. Describe the benefits of working with others Working with others is a two way learning process and increases productivity and assist in confidence building. Describe the benefits of working alone Able to make own decisions and to act on those decisions within a limited time frame. What was your worst working experience? Not being able to secure funding to complete a given task. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Not to impose my ideas but to listen to peoples problems,needs and issues affecting the local communities and plan accordingly. What unique skills do you have? -Drafting as well as mechanical skills. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Being able to work with Politicians and Public Servants to deliver goods and services to the people. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Planning and implementing projects at the local level. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Land disputes resulting in delays in implementing projects. Is my expertise required in a country such as Timor-Leste.
