Skills are therefore more important to get a job and than get the jobs done. But formal education is also important for making the foundations and discipline on which the skills can be built to a better effect later on. Describe the benefits of working with others 1. I always learn from others. Exchange of knowledge and information is mutually beneficial. 2. In team building, it is essential. For many modern programs and activities, team building is indispensable. 3. One cannot do everything alone. By working with others, I increase the volume and quality of my work, resulting in a better output. 4. Social interaction is created by working with others. Social interaction is an essential element to improve personal health (according to WHO). Some of the colleagues becomes very good friend. Friendship can contribute both to personal health and to organizational health when the relationship is ethically practiced. Describe the benefits of working alone 1. I can focus on a specific work with maximum intensity by working alone. 2. I can work out and implement my own ideas without facing any conflict when working alone. This is very beneficial if my ideas are not wrong. 3. I can save some time that I have to spend for interaction with others. But again, if I am wrong, the time is wasted. 4. A lot of cost is saved when I am working alone. So if the work is simple, can be done alone, it is the ideal choice What was your worst working experience? At one time, I was the Secretary General of the Obstetrical and Gynecological Society of Bangladesh (OGSB). In one of our Annual Conference, I delegated the the responsibility of Refreshments to one of my junior colleagues. The Secretary and some other important guests were present for the opening session. Just before the tea break, I discovered that the Refreshment packets have not arrived. The Secretary of Health and some guests left without having the tea. There was no doubt that the Health Secretary was angry with me. I had to suffer for that in my later career. But I reorganized the OGSB and saved it from destruction during my tenure. To-day OGSB is a powerful dynamic organization. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? I have learned troughout my career that there is always more to learn than what I know. I learned that learning more, I can always improve my work. So, personally, I consider myself a lifelong learner/student. What unique skills do you have? Multi-tasking multi-skill is my unique skill. I do not see many people that has such a vast combination of skills and experiences like me. (In addition to being a Physician, I have organized, built programs, projects and organizations. I have developed many national and international collaboration programs. I have done teaching, training, research, administration, team building, mentoring, capacity building, recruitment, procurement, public speaking, communication, media campaign and many other things successfully). What would you consider as your 'dream job'? A public Health job in which I shall be able to contribute towards the health improvement of the people and the creativity/productivity of the organization I serve. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Public Health is the future of health for mankind. I became interested in public health at a time when I was an established clinician. This happened when I realized that I can do much more to improve the health of the people through public health than what I can do through clinical health care. I have a vision, that most of to-days clinical health care will be replaced by public health in future. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? This is a difficult question to answer. I find that whatever I study and I understand becomes interesting to me. There are many areas, which are not well known to me. They are the least interesting areas temporarily. So, generally speaking, too much data is least interesting, especially when they are not properly explained with context. Personally, I get less interested in a work when I have to do it again and again without the need to think or improvise. For example, some of the surgeries I did as an OBGYN physicians became least interesting to me over the years. Please replace this with a question of your own Would it be right to say that the word 'replace' is misplaced here? Because, this word here communicates a double meaning. Is it asking me to replace the previous question on 'interest'? In that case I shall have some interesting input. If it is asking me to replace this box, than the word 'replace' is not meaningful. Because, in that case, one should only ask me to write down a question of my own. I am not replacing anything. Do I? How can potential employers contact you? Email: akmshahabuddin@gmail.com |
