I am proficient in English and Filipino. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? As much as possible, I prefer to work in the Philippines,in Region 5 (Bicol). What countries have you worked in? I do not have formal work experience yet. I have not reached any place other than the Philippines. What countries do you have a visa to work in? I do not have any yet. What field do you currently work in? I do not have work at present. What fields have you worked in before? During college,I am used to working on tasks related to research and community development. I have already participated on some development initiatives of rural communities, particularly formulation of local development plans and farm-to-market road rehabilitation feasibility study. What qualifications do you hold? I am proficient in Filipino and English. I have knowledge on computer. To be specific, I am knowledgeable on Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint and Excel)and internet applications. I have high critical thinking skills. I also happened to be flexible in working either by myself or within a team. I know the significance of analyzing issues holistically, believing that everything is related and interconnected. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Actually, it always depend upon the situation. Some tasks require formal knowledge, others require skills. Working with others will help achieve tasks and goals faster. It will help you bring out all the creative juices in you. What was your worst working experience? I think it's working with very limited resorces. I was able to come out of the situation well because of the help of friends and acquaintances. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? In every task given to you, you must do and give your best. Be resourceful and creative. Learn the value of time management and the value of your teammates if you are working on a team. Always bring positive attitude even on a critical situation. It helps make a difference. Lastly, always try enhancing your skills and knowledge at every opportunity. What unique skills do you have? I do not know if you can label this as skill, but I always look at the two sides in every situation to help me come up with a good decision. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? It is actually dream jobs. I want to be an environmental planner, writer and artist. I cannot imagine myself doing only one of this things. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? I think its the opportunity to have genuine interaction with the community I am serving. Nothing will ever beat attaining goals coupled with better relation with your host community. I can also add satisfaction of improving human welfare while conserving environmental resources. There are just too many interesting aspects. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? I cannot think of any "least interesting aspect" of my field. What is the significance of Human Ecology today? With the growing demands of humans on their environment and the burgeoning environmental issues, it is important that people should start balancing these two dynamic forces. People must accept that human activities have adverse impacts on the environment. They should learn to consider and measure the effects of their activities not only on their own kind but also to their living and non-living co-inhabitants. They can only achieve this by doing and viewing things in the human ecological perspective. Human Ecology is the perfect discipline which balances social development, economic prosperity and environmental protection. Human Ecology is what we exactly need today.
