Application for Government Service

What type of job are you looking for?

I am currently looking for any jobs available that would further hone my skills e.g. primary school teacher, health care, food and beverages, hotel, accommodation and management most specifically government related jobs.

What nationality are you?

I am a native Filipino.

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

I am well versed in both formal English and slang.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I would like to work in any European country and likewise open to working in Australia, New Zealand and Canada for I enjoy traveling, meeting people, observe new culture and the pleasure in eating great foods.

What countries have you worked in?

I have never been out in my country since birth. But I have extensively worked and traveled the Philippines since the nature of my employment dictates.

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

None. I wish to work with a sponsored working visa.

What field do you currently work in?

I am currently working as the general manager, editor-in-chief, writer in a local but popular advertising magazine. I have dealt with clients from all walks of life and have been adept in customer service and sales as a part of my task.

What fields have you worked in before?

I was and still am an ESL teacher working part time. I teach grammar, vocabulary, articles and writing. Likewise, teach slang and idiomatic expressions for advance students. Furthermore, I teach basic grammar, pronuciation and basic survival English for basic to intermediate students. I also prepare weekly quizzes for assessment purposes.

I am Bachelor of Arts Major in English Language graduate of the University of Mindanao, with an on going Master's degree in Languge Teaching in the University of Southeastern Philippines, Davao City.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I consider skills above formal education for the reason that a lot of graduates lack skills when exposed to the real world. For example, a good figure of licensed teachers don't even know how to teach and their pronunciation is the worst. Some hold the degree in management yet lack the leadership to guide their subordinates and more so, run the business.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Working with others provide a perfect avenue for learning and at the same time hone one's skills with the varied influences from the working environment. One is given the chance to deal with diffent personalities, work ethics, professionalism and individual dedication to his or her craft. Here is where learning starts and it molds to a person that you and I are standing right now.

Describe the benefits of working alone

The benefits of working alone however, would expedite the completion of a certain task for the reason that much concentration is poured towards it. The failure and success of any task at hand would certaily teach an individual to widen and broaden his or her skills since experience has inculcated the standards. Less chatting more on production is always attained.

What was your worst working experience?

My worst working experience was when I failed to guide my subordinates since they demand higher wages. I cannot yield into thier demands due to the fact that their performance was rather lousy. After long hours of emotional airings and debate, it led me to a critical decision making by enforcing a company rule that stated " no collection no salary." It enabled them to strive harder in the process.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

Being humble, open minded, and learning through failures and mistakes are the things that I consider my most valuable lesson that made me strong, confident and much more dedicated in mastering my craft.

What unique skills do you have?

Being able to determine the weak and strong points of a person and how I would solve it and in turn, make it an asset is a skill that perhaps made me a good teacher and a leader.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

My dream job is where I could travel, meet people, have an acquaintance with celebreties, help the needy and something that would widen my horizons. And of course, the pay is good. To me, any job is a dream come true since it is without doubt, difficult to find one these days but the above mentioned is truly the one I so long cherished and wish to acquire in the near future.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

The mind boggling challenges of achieving the quota, the never ending search for customers, and the costant undertaking of pacifying an irate customer are things I consider the most interesting aspect of my job for it taught me so much as a worker and as a leader.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

The pay. It was not that satisfying.

How do you assess yourself as an employee?

I am a hard working individual who never leaves any task undone. I am highly trainable, a fast learner and can work with minimal supervision. A goal getter and a team player.
