System Engineer job position Systems Engineer job positionOverview This is an opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer to work with a growing, fast-paced U.S.-based technology company. The work will vary across a wide range of cutting-edge technologies. The engineer will be responsible for performing research on late-breaking technology fronts, creating technology briefs, writing whitepapers, and creating technical solutions involving hardware, software, services mixes. The engineer will receive direction from and will directly report to the Chief Technology Officer. Qualifications o 8+ years experience as a systems engineer, creating systems solutions including mixtures of hardware, network elements, servers, specialized appliances, operating systems, and software. o Excellent working knowledge of security systems and concepts including encryption, PKI’s, digital certificates, and access control methodologies. o 4+ years experience developing software applications using a leading development language such as Java, C#, or C++ (or a combination of these) o Good working knowledge of systems and network administration of Windows desktop and server software, various Linux offerings, and other flavors of Un*x o Good working knowledge of the TCP/IP stack, networking in general, and network elements and protocols used in secure environments (e.g. VPNs, SSL/TLS, IPSec, firewalls, etc) o Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery strategies o MIS experience administering systems and networks a plus o Knowledge of Microsoft-specific capabilities/products a plus (e.g. Active Directory, Clustering, Exchange, SharePoint, etc) o Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is absolutely essential for this position o Methodical, detail-oriented, works well in a remote-work environment and in a local team environment o Self-starter; doesn’t need to be closely supervised The engineer will be employed directly by the company.
