Office management with accounting and computer management as well as website design are my most experienced fields. What nationality are you? My fiance' is Portuguese & we are looking to re-locate to beautiful Portugal. What countries have you worked in? Only South Africa What field do you currently work in? I currently have a mornings only position as office manager/ accountant/ computer maintenance in a medium sized company with an office staff of 16. I also do other accounts and web-site design work. What fields have you worked in before? I have had 2 of my own businesses (had 2 retail jewellery stores from 1984 to 1992) as well as doing accounting work for many businesses. What qualifications do you hold? I have a National Diploma in Cost Accounting plus some credit towards a B. Comm. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Skills are far more valuable than formal education. Hands on experience can't be taught in any lecture room. Describe the benefits of working with others One has the opportunity to share & help others as well as learn more. Describe the benefits of working alone The ability to concentrate on completing a project unassisted is very rewarding. What was your worst working experience? Having to close a business down & retrenching staff was heart breaking What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? To be humble & not selfish, no matter how successful you are. What unique skills do you have? A unique mix of accounting, computers, & business management. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Managing a Harley-Davidson dealership. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Working with dishonest fellow workers Why do you want to re-locate to Portugal? My fiance' is Portuguese, and has shown me the quality of life in Portugal is far better than my home country, South Africa, where the prospects for a happy retirement are rapidly receding.
