Eimear Mc Cormack (213.22.115.196) -

What type of job are you looking for?

I am looking for a job which will help me integrate more into the Portuguese life, help me with my Portuguese and broaden my knowledge.

What nationality are you?

I am Irish.

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

I speak English and am currently learning Portuguese, I understand quite a lot and am gradually becoming more comfortable speaking.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I am looking to work in Portugal, in the Lisbon or Santarem areas. I moved here for personnel reasons and am enjoying it very much and would love to stay and make my life here.

What countries have you worked in?

I have worked in Ireland full time for the last 8 years. Before that I worked part time while I was at college.

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

I'm European.

What field do you currently work in?

I am currently employed by the Public Service Sector in Ireland.

What fields have you worked in before?

I have worked for the Public Sector (full time), in retail (part time) and as a child care nursery nurse (part-time).

What qualifications do you hold?

I have a N.N.E.B and N.C.V.A. in Childcare.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Well I think both are important but I feel that everything can be learned on the job. I am a very quick learner and am very conscientious about my work.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Team work is good when dealing with big projects where you and others join forces to make something the best that it can be. Some people can be brilliant at somethings and you at others and by joining forces it makes the job done the best. For me also working as part of a team makes work life more enjoyable and here in Portugal will help enormously my Portuguese.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Working alone sometimes gives you the space and peace needed to get something that is very specific and time consuming done. It also gives you the responsibility of having to do something that is purely down to you.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

Throughout my career I have learnt that the most important thing is to give whatever you are doing your all. That a job well done gives you an enormous sense of pride. I have also learnt that when in dealing with people that it costs nothing to be as nice and polite as possible even in awkward situations.

What unique skills do you have?

I am very polite and friendly. I am very particular about my work and always do everything to the best of my ability and to a high standard. I learn quickly. I love new challenges and also like doing everyday jobs that others may find tedious.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

Well for me at the moment, working in Portugal would be a dream job. I love the country and the way of life.

What job would you never do?

Well I have never done anything so far that I have not liked and I could never say I would never do something until I have at least tried it out once!!

What was your last job and why did you leave?

In my last job I worked for the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform in Dublin, Ireland. I worked in the Human Resource department and enjoyed it immensely. I dealt with a number of things including work sharing patterns, over time, Staff reports, time management and other things. I also dealt with queries daily from are staff of over 700. I left Ireland to come to Portugal with my partner who is Portuguese and was offered a job here. We thought that it was time to change and come and live in Portugal.

How can potential employers contact you?

I can be contacted by email at : emccormack17@hotmail.com
