looking to teach in PortugalWhat type of job are you looking for? I am currently for a job teaching English over the summer in Portgual. What nationality are you? I am American but with Portuguese decent. Both my mother and my father were born in Portugal. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? I speak Portuguese. Although I am no fluent, I do speak it well enough to get by. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I am looking to work in Portugal because I would love to be able to spend some time there. I find it to be absolutely beautiful. Similarly, since I speak the language it will be much easier for me to adjust to the new lifestyle. What countries have you worked in? Only the United States. What field do you currently work in? Currently I am working towards a masters degree in Special Education but continue to stay active in the field by working at a Learning store. What fields have you worked in before? Retail and Education are the only fields I have worked in before. What qualifications do you hold? I have a bachelors in childhood education with a concentration in English. Currently, I am working towards a masters degree in special education. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I believe that one needs a balance of the too. Although formal education holds its value, it is skills that will enable you to be thoroughly prepared for the real world. Describe the benefits of working with others It is my belief that the best benefit of working with others, in particularly in the education field, is the growth that can be made. As one knows, education is a continuous process and one of the best ways to expand on your knowledge is through working with your peers. Describe the benefits of working alone Working alone requires a person to grow. Being given the responsibility of working independently motivates you to grow within your field. What was your worst working experience? With every work experience came growth. Therefore, I do not consider any working experience a bad one. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? The most important lesson that I have learned is that teaching is a job that never reaches completion. Like ones students, one must continue to expand and grow so as to become a better teacher. What unique skills do you have? My ability to relate to each and every student and to differentiate lessons based on the needs of individual students makes me unique. Many educators are not willing to put forward the dedication needed to reach each and every student. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? My dream job would entail working in a classroom. Being able to give the gift of learning is what I have always aspired to do. Similarly, being able to teach someone a language that is not of their native tongue would be extremely rewarding. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The most interesting aspect of your field is seeing the way you have impacted the life of your students. Watching someone academically grow is the most rewarding feeling in the world. What are the least interesting aspects of your field?
