What type of job are you looking for?

NGO Field Officer (Grant Writing, Project Planning, Fundraising, Community Development and Self-Help Group Efficacy Enhancement). I am also looking forward to working in NGO supported Micro-Finance set up where I can use my skills and expertise to train young upcoming entrepreneurs in Business Management matters.

What nationality are you?

Kenyan aged 33, husband to one wife and father to two children.

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

Excellently fluent in English, Kiswahili and Dholuo

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

Qatar and Botswana. They exhibit fast growing economies with great potential for socio-economic growth, hence immense opportunities. They are also relatively peaceful and hospitable countries.

What countries have you worked in?

Kenya

What field do you currently work in?

Grant Writing, Proposal Writing, Donor Fundraising, Research and Development, Training of Trainers in HIV/AIDS, Entrepreneurship and Business Planning. I work as a private consultant in these areas with remarkable record of success in all that I have done for various clients- both individuals and corporate clients.

What fields have you worked in before?

Teaching, Training, Guidance and Counseling as well as NGO Management

What qualifications do you hold?

Bachelor of Education Degree, Kenyatta University; Certificate in Grant Management (Monitoring & Evaluation), USAID/AED; Certificate in Gender & Leadership, World Bank Institute/Kenyatta University; Certificate in Guidance & Counseling, CCGPC Ltd; Certificate in Girl Child Education, UNICEF ESAR

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I consider skills more valuable as they make it possible for a person to gainfully utilize the seeds of formal education.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Its easier to attain greater synergistic efforts hence greater results with minimal input and cost of production.

Describe the benefits of working alone

You are bound to make quick decisions and take prompt actions that could lead to rapid respone to problem situation where necessary.

What was your worst working experience?

When my employer made a wrong decision with far reaching implications on our corporate responsibility against genuine consultative advise of all other management team members. The company collapsed and the employer died leaving all employees and suppliers stranded.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

Team work guided with clear corporate focus pay huge dividends in the end.

What unique skills do you have?

I am intricately capable of successfully multi-tasking realizing quality results within time line. I am quite flexible in carrying out my tasks. My writing skills has baffled many who have interacted with me at personal and professional levels. My teaching, training and presentation skills are such magnetic that whoever I teach or train leaves the class desiring to explode.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

Teaching and Training Poor & Vulnerable Communities on: Poverty Eradication Approaches; Self-Help Group Formation, Registration, Management, Coordination and Self Efficacy Development; Drawing Grant Proposals for the Self Help Groups under my watch and seeing them, through monitoring and evaluation process, implement and succeed in carrying out their project activities and eventually observing a change in behaviour, lifestyles, living standards and household empowerment through projects I help to initiate. This will give me greater satisfaction and peace of mind when I sit back and see the poor walk out of poverty, educating their children, accessing quality health care services, freely and productively interacting with others in their state and actually being able to enjoy their basic rights.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Mobilizing an impoverished community to start on the path of their own socuil, economic and political liberation.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

When politicians or self-serving people jeopardise community efforts and initiatives to liberate themselves from the devastating effects of poverty and HIV/AIDs
