QATAR - my brother is working at Qatar since 20 years or so and I want to work there as my sons are now old enough to look after them selves, I want to work in gulf country like Qatar!

India, New Zealand (currently living & working in New Zealand since 15 years)

What field do you currently work in?

Food Industry Food Packaging Industry Medical College Auckland University

What fields have you worked in before?

Teaching at university, secondary school levels Research and Development Food Technologist Pharmacuetical Industry Quality Assurance Technologist & QA Systems Coordinator (Management role)

What qualifications do you hold?

M.Sc (Bio Sciences & BioChemistry)Osmania University, India M.Sc (Food Science & Technology) - Auckland University New Zealand B.Ed ( Osmania University)

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Both, Ofcourse formal education makes a person to be more organised and obtain more self confidence, competance, interpersonal interaction, and skills and talents enhances added value to contribute in any particular job position one is capable of doing. Nevertheless experience is vital for any kind of job and it may not be in the same field but different skills acquired from previous roles makes one more capable than some one without it.

Describe the benefits of working with others

Team building, strengths and weaknesses of other can compensate for better progress of the company, respect, understanding and acceptance of others. Specialistion of different areas is a requisite for any company to thrive. Organisational input is important for any company!

Describe the benefits of working alone

No compulsion from superiors, bullying and jealousy in a department can be avoided, freedom to express and more productivity.

What was your worst working experience?

When the boss knows less and cannot lead in proper direction.Insecurity and incompetance of the superiors is very frustrating.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

Be very open and honest and transparent despite others are not. Never keep grudges and personal differences but respect all and learn from others.What I do I must do an excellent job even though my work is not achieved, work long hours and not just stick to 9 - 5 or what ever the paid hours are for any company!

What unique skills do you have?

Teaching, training, research, Projects, writing articles (currently writing a book, written articles to news letters); 10 research papers in reputed journals, masters thesis, Robert Harris coffee shelf life project, lab experiments, working and mentoring young people and people in need, youth activities, auditing (food & product safety) HACCP training (PPP), writing reports,analysis & graphs, product testing, compliances etc.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

Heading projects, training, auditing, reporting, regulatory & compliances, presentations and addressing an audience,

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Product testing, nutrition tables and labelling of foods, allergins and GM foods, GMP, ISO, AIB Auditing (food & product safety) HACCP training (PPP), writing reports,analysis & graphs, product testing, compliances etc.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

I just dont think there should be any least intersting aspect for any job as such!
