Nuclear and general nursing What fields have you worked in before? Nuclear,maternity,and general nursing. What qualifications do you hold? Deploma in nursing as staff nurse and midwife secondary education up to Form 4 Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I strongly belive that both education and skill should occur at the same time. As a nurse I have found that I would not be able to perform my job if i did not have both the theoritical knowledge and practical skill set my work requires. Describe the benefits of working with others When working with others I find myself pushing myself harder because group work allows me to concentrate on a specific task while others work on other aspects of the job. Also importantly, it allows me learn from others and teach them as well. Describe the benefits of working alone Working alone improves my responsibility as it is up to me to look out for my own mistakes and correct them. What was your worst working experience? My worst working expreinces are when I cannot help a patient who is in a great amount of suffering or beyound recovery. I have also found that working in pediatrics to be rewarding but an extremly emotionally tense experience. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? The most difficult lesson that working in the medical field has taught me is the difficultly of balancing an objective medical attitude with a human emotional relation to patients. What unique skills do you have? I have greate experience in a variety of medical fields. I have worked in the nuclear medicine department and the children's ward in Namibia. I am well organised and a good superviser,able to order drugs and equipment as well as keep records. I am alsoa good teacher and often give informal training to visiting nursing students. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? My dream job whould be one that would allow to work as a nurse in nuclear medicine as I am very much interested in the field. But at the same time my dream job would allow me to work in the different departments of a hospital. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The most interesing aspect is that the nursing field is that it allows me to work in different department so I am constantly learning new skills. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? I cant say there are any aspects that are uninteresting , there are however difficult aspects such as difficult patients and occassional long hours. why are you a good employee? I am self driven,care about my patients,understant the field of nursing.I understant doctors and work very well with them. I am eager to learn from and teach others in the work place.
