Supervisory responsibility :
• Responsible to : Chief Department of Surgery
• Responsible for : Specialists and Residents of Surgery
General description:
• The Consultant surgeon shall be fully responsible for the care of his own patients.
• He participates in the on-going improvement of Quality Care and Services, Departmental and Organization-wide.
• Deals with burn cases & can perform repair, reconstruction, or replacement of physical defects of form or function involving the skin, musculoskeletal system, maxillofacial structures, hand, extremities, breast and trunk and external genitalia.
• Special knowledge and skill in the design and surgery of grafts, flaps and re-implantation is necessary with competence in the management of complex wounds, the use of implantable materials.
Required Qualifications:
Education
• Graduate of an Accredited Medical School.
• Holds a recognized Post Graduate Degree in plastic surgery from Accredited Medical School preferably
Western qualification likes the Canadian Board, American Board. or FRCS or MRCS (Membership or Fellowship of the British Royal College of Surgeons).
Similar qualification that can be Accredited by Saudi Council for Health Specialties can be accepted like Saudi Board, Arab Board, Jordanian Board and Egyptian MD.
Experience
• At least three (3) years of experience as Consultant plastic surgeon in a distinguished hospital after getting FRCS or its equivalents in a hospital not less than 200 bed capacity
