Describe the benefits of working with others
Diversity is the main aspect in our international hotel field. It is a fantastic opportunity to see and learn the best practices of other countries, people and cultures. At the bottom line our guests come from different countries and cultures. It will help you develop yourself for better life
Describe the benefits of working alone
Non-interference on what you have been concentrating on might be the only benefit. However you will be a one track mind if you do not refer to the feelings and opinions of your colleagues. Not a benefit in the hotel industry at all.
What was your worst working experience?
During my ExxonMobil employment, we have been informed that one of the fellow managers have been imprisoned. When we researched the reason of his arrest, we learned that he was stealing from the company, as cash and falsified the invoice reatiling and many others for 2 years. We were shocked that we were friends with this person and many times hang out together after work. This was a good lesson to us in not to trust the outer appearance.
What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?
You have to empower your subordinates and give them the chance to excel. Help them reach better levels. It makes you proud. Team work is the name of our hotel industry game. I have such fantastic friends in many corners of the world. This has been very rewarding in my life. That is the reason hotel industry is my life style not my job. You have to treat your employees just like you welcome your guests.
What unique skills do you have?
I carry a vast background in the departments of Rooms Division/Front Office, Food & Beverage and Sales & Marketing. I have successfully served in these departments in management capacity for many years with traceable records. All my past employers may be contacted. I created Marketing Plans and Budgeting Tools on “xml” format for researching, forecasting and planning of the hotel operations to achieve the most profitable bottom lines. I know my numbers very good and operate accordingly to reach the approved targeted figures. I developed and used cost cutting plans. So far I was able to cut down the operations and staff budgets up to 11 % in various establishments. This is without sacrificing an excellent guest service. Which I believe is the core of our industry regardless of star standard of the facility.
What would you consider as your 'dream job'?
I am already living my dream in the hotel industry. Serving my guests with my team and making their stay an unforgettable one makes me happy and of course this way I score one more over the competition. I would like to note that I would like to be prepared for a position in the level of a country manager in the next 5-8 years
What are the most interesting aspects of your field?
Meeting new guests, learning new best practices, working with different people from different countries and cultures, beating the competition in guest service surveys, exploring new dishes, new music and performances.
Wjat are the least interesting aspects of your field?
Employees who does not consider this industry as a life style might not be interested in long work hours and reverse vacation days. Hoteliers have to take vacation/off when guests are at work. When they are on vacation it is busy time for us.
What is the part of you that you do not like about yourself?
I can say that I am a little short of patience when it comes to the duties performed. I want all done yesterday. I usually finish the assignments in a couple of days when it could be spread to a week.
