Child ProtectionWhat type of job are you looking for? I am looking for a job in a developmental sector on child protection,Mine Action, Community Based Rehabilitation, etc. What nationality are you? I am Sri Lankan. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? Mother tongue is Tamil but I can speak English,French and Sinhaleese lagnuages too. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? Country of preference is Somalia because it is a country with most vulnerable people who should be served fervently. I further want to gain different international experince through working from such these countries. What countries have you worked in? I worked in Sri Lanka only. What countries do you have a visa to work in? So far I haven't applied for any visa for an employment What field do you currently work in? In the field of Disarmerment De-mobilization and re-integration What fields have you worked in before? In Child Protection and Mine Action Sector What qualifications do you hold? Enthusiastic, embracing diversity, creating rapport with working partners, driving for result,etc. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Both are more important because skills can be utilised as per the theoritical knowledge which gained from formal education. Describe the benefits of working with others In a working environment where more benefits can be gained through working as team because a worker can learn and share his/ her knowledge and experince while working with others. A worker can get to know new ideas and support from other collegues. Describe the benefits of working alone Sometimes it is worthwhile working as alone. Due to the delay in decison making process among the staff members the particular work or task may not be implemented within a specified time schedule. What was your worst working experience? Once I worked in a difficult area during the war in between LTTE and Govt of Sri Lanka where we encountered a lot of difficulties to work with the community and the agencies. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? 1. How to deliver the optimum services as per the organizational objectives 2. Creating better rapport with the partner,government,CBOs,etc. 3. Learned about how to adopt into a difficult situation and completetion work within the deadline. What unique skills do you have? 1. I have a workaholic characteristics. 2. Creating new and innovative ideas to update the work performance. 3.I have skills in making friends through which expedite the work. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? My dream job would be child psychologist. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Cognitive development of children and in Mine Action advocacy for banning land mines are most interesting part. What are the least interesting aspects of your field?
