ACCA AffiliateWhat type of job are you looking for? I am looking for an Accounting and/or Finance job. What nationality are you? Zimbabwean What languages do you speak (and at what level)? Excellent written and spoken English.I am also fluent in Shona. Which industry sector do you want to work in and why? I prefer working in the financial services industry yet I am still open to accept a finance job in any other sector depending on the fact that the job should be able to expose me extensively in complex financial transactions such as derivatives and other aspects of corporate finance as covered by the ACCA syllabus since I am very passionate about solving complex mathematical problems. I am passionate about corporate finance but unfortunately it is proving quite a challenge getting a job in finance here in Zimbabwe considering the current economic challenges being faced by our country. I therefore intend to get a company in ticking economies such as that of South Africa or Botswana in order to ensure that I develop my career along my dreams to become a fully skilled Financial Analyst. What countries have you worked in? Zimbabwe What countries do you have a visa to work in? Once I successfully obtain a job offer from the right organization, I will immediately proceed my application for a Work Permit and visa. I hold a valid Zimbabwean passport and all my identification documents including birth certificates and National ID are in good order. Upon request, I can also produce medical history and all my beneficiaries including my two year old daughter and my wife, have valid edification papers, hence working permits and visa application can be lodged successfully upon issuance of the job offer. What field do you currently work in? I am currently working in the government sector serving under ministry of Higher and Tertiary education. To be more specific, I work under the bursar's department at Midlands State University. The job mainly entails maintenance of the university asset register but I also actively assist in preparation of both interim and year end audited financial statements. What fields have you worked in before? I have also worked more than a year in pharmaceutical industry being the Accountant for one of the leading pharmacies in the city of Mutare, the fourth largest city in Zimbabwe. I have also spend invaluable experience with the tourism sector when I served close to year and half as Trainee Accountant for Zimbabwe's leading tourism services provider, Rainbow Tourism Group ltd. What qualifications do you hold? I am a proud holder of the ACCA Affiliate certificate and I am currently working towards gaining the prestigious ACCA Membership status. In fact a job in finance will definitely work out the puzzle for me by making it possible for me to attain the ACCA Membership status using relevant experience record. I am also a holder of an Upper Second Class Bachelor of Science Honors Degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brooks University (United Kingdom) Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? In my opinion I believe that formal education and skills should not be separated. In fact I consider the two to be key ingredients when molding a QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL. Today industry is searching for professionals, and in my view, one can not be a "professional" without having gone through all of the formal education and skills learning processes. I can illustrate this by using the ACCA professional route. For one to be called a "qualified professional" accountant, one has to satify ACCA board the following key things: 1.Passing all ACCA exams up to Level three (formal education) 2.Completing the ethics module online (both formal and skills education) 3.Completing at least three years Practical Experience. (Skill learning) In fact one can deduce that both formal and skills education are key to achieving professionalism.In my opinion, therefore, everything is as equally important as the other. Describe the benefits of working with others 1.Sharing knowledge. 2.Learning new ideas. 3.Delegation can be mad easier hence controls become effective. 4.One can benchmark his/her performance with that of other colleagues. Describe the benefits of working alone 1. Improved concentration on a particular task. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? I have learnt that the greater the challenge, the greater the future. In fact one has to take up great challenge in order to prepare for the future success. I have noticed that by taking up the challenge to study and pass challenging ACCA exams, my career path has changed greatly and I therefore intend to take up more challenge in my career path as I endeavor to achieve full ACCA Membership.
