teaching English in a secondary school

South African

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

English- excellent (native speaker)

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

UAE, Oman, Qatar Its a new experience the salary perks

What countries have you worked in?

South Africa

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

I dont have a visa yet

What field do you currently work in?

I teach grade 12 English and Drama I am a head of department at my school

What fields have you worked in before?

I have been a teacher for 16 years

What qualifications do you hold?

a BPaed Degree

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Actually i would say both. the formal education gives you a good foundation to begin with. you need skills to be effective in the classroom. children are evovling beings that you are moulding, you need to be able to transform yourself as a dynamic teacher

You learn from others. You have a support system

you can work at your own pace. you make your own decisions

What was your worst working experience?

trying to teach arrogant children

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

you have to be consistently learning yourself. you got to be willing to change and to compromise.

What unique skills do you have?

I am an extrovert. I am great at organizing concerts, awards evenings, trips.(project management) I am very creative I am a good public speaker

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

teaching English to classes of 20-25 learners

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

English incorporates all other subjects. it is constantly evolving.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

the monotony of marking scripts
