Nature of Job:

(a) Emergency Repair of OFC

Repaired the sudden OFC cuts (24-OFC, 36-OFC, 48-OFC&96-OFC) used 3M-Fiber LockTM-II 2529, spliced mechanically and restored the system within time successfully.

(b) Permanent Splice of OFC

Spliced the temporary repaired OFC by using Fujikura Arc Fusion Splicing machine (FSM-50S) and handled the MDTs successfully.

(c) Cable Location / Marking

Located the OFC cuts for emergency repair and marked the cable routes for construction companies doing civil works along the cable routes to avoid cable cuts. Used CTS-110 and CTS-330 cable locators and radio detection pipe and cable locator and digital transmitter (RD400 PXL-2 / PDL-2)

(d) Cable Patrolling

Performed duties as cable patroller in order to protect the OFC from the companies doing civil works along the cable routes.

(e) Attended the PATs

Attended the PATs for newly installed FOC between different exchanges. During pat the following tasks were performed.

i. Physically checked and verified the labels on ODF (Fiber Sequence Front & Back)

ii. Checked and verified Grounding connection of OFC.

iii. Checked and verified organizing of loose tubes, ODF Pigtails & Fibers organized in the trays.

iv. Checked the routing of system patch cards.

v. Took the traces of dark fibers with wavelengths 1550 nm & 1310 nm with OTDR.

vi. Calculated the section loss of each fiber and ensured the acceptability of the system.
