I have recently ended a public house lease after 10 years. I am alo a salesman. What fields have you worked in before? Coal Industry 20 years as a Police Officer. Oil Industry. Licensed trade What qualifications do you hold? A-LEVEL PURE MATHEMATICS A-LEVEL APPLIED MATHEMATICS. HNC MECHANICAL ENGINEERING OCN QUALIFIED MEDIATOR. DESIGNATED PREMISES SUPERVISORS LICENCE. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? A good balance of both. If your level of education is too low then you will not be able to properly cope with the business side of running a bar. If your practical skills and entrepreneurial skills are not good enough you will not achieve the correct atmosphere required. Socialising abilities arecalso of paramount importance. Describe the benefits of working with others A pleasant and friendly working atmosphere encourage a more productive situation and the more people you meet the more diverse your thinking. Describe the benefits of working alone Lone working is a good developer of character if mistakes are made you are responsible. You are reliant on your own thinking and decision making. What was your worst working experience? Whilst in the Police force I attended numerous violent death scenes one in particular was the deaths of 6 children and two adults who were killed as the result of a road accident. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? To use patience and tolerance with customers and staff but still maintaining a strict discipline. I do not expect others to do what I cannot. Always lead by example. What unique skills do you have? I have the ability to deal with people at all levels. I am a qualified mediator and I can invariably achieve a resolution to other peoples problems. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? To be able to entertain people who are socialising, with regard to good food good drink and good entertainment to the point that they can't wait to return What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The social aspect. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? As in any business the bookwork is a nescessity but it is also the least interesting in part. It is more interesting when targets are being achieved. Why should anyone employ my partner and me. I am known as a workaholic and always put 100 percent into whatever I do. I have run a number of public houses bot food led and wet led. I would be an asset to anyone who employs me.
