IT - Software Development What fields have you worked in before? IT second line support What qualifications do you hold? Bachelors degree in computer science Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Obtaining qualifications is important but Upgrading your skills is more valuable because one is productive not because of the qualifications that one holds but the skills that one possesses. I would like to think that the reason people would go to school and acquire qualifications is so that they can be skilled in a particular line of work. Describe the benefits of working with others One gets a range of different opinions and ideas while working with others, and more work can be done in less time. Describe the benefits of working alone When working alone I find it easier to get creative and the work becomes more flexible if I assign it myself for myself. What was your worst working experience? Sitting for about 6 months in a call centre. I worked as a junior second line support agent and I didn't like the nature of the job ie. sitting around all day waiting for the phone to ring. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Hard work is the only way to get places. I have found that the more you put in to something the more you get out. What unique skills do you have? I work well with people I am determined and confident I am a hard worker and an exceptional programmer What would you consider as your 'dream job'? A junior software engineer position at this point What are the most interesting aspects of your field? What I find most interesting is the nature of IT. I love technology and the business of IT is creating technology. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? The long hours that are required to get things done are what I like least.
