I currently offer a Community Nursing service to ex-pats in the Gandia, Xativa areas of norther costa blanca. I work from home or go to a clients house. I provide translation and accompanied visits to hospitals, clinics and also offer over night sitting if required. What fields have you worked in before? I am trained in Tissue Viability area. Compression and four layer bandaging. Community Nursing, Oncology, ENT, Surgerical recovery unit, dealing with burns, reconstructive post operative care. What qualifications do you hold? O levels in english, maths, geography, biology a levels in geography and biology NVQ 2 in finance & administration Accredited childminder, Devon County Council DipHE Adult Nursing Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? A good all round education is a great base on which to expand your life and communication skills. As I have worked with people from differing races, age groups and cultures I have been amazed by the possibilities for exchange of information and experience whether that is on an educational or skill based level. Describe the benefits of working with others A good network of colleagues both enhances your own practice and in many cases, differing experiences can shed new light or interesting perspectives on problems. Describe the benefits of working alone Working alone is fulfiling and rewarding, in that as a community practicioner you have to think on your feet and utilise local resourses. Another benefit is that you realise your own limitations and research options for referal when required. What was your worst working experience? Removing a dressing from a gentleman who had diabetes which had compromised the circulation and sensation to his foot. His toe was in the dressing and had come adrift. He wasn´t to distressed but it took a while to calm his wife down. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? know your limitations, if you dont know something, find someone who does and ask them! What unique skills do you have? a sense of humour, practical knowledge of dressings and how and when to apply them. I am bilingual (english/spanish) What would you consider as your 'dream job'?
