I am working in a private language school What fields have you worked in before? I have been working in ELT for 20 years What qualifications do you hold? I have a CTEFLA from cambridge, a joint PhD from a University in Florida and Barcelona. I am currently studying for a Diploma in centre management from International house London Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I feel that although formal education is important, its importance is being eroded with new legislation and the need to offer qualifications to even the most unworthy of students and as a consequence the skills one acquires soon outweigh the certificates one gets at the initial stages of life. Describe the benefits of working with others One can become a member of a team whereby everyone works for a common goal. Working for a boss who was keeping his company on the very edge of the immigration laws. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? That a director is only as good as he treats his staff and if he is not conscious of their needs and feelings, the staff will soon close ranks and make him very much the outsider with no chance of making a team. What unique skills do you have? I am unique in that I strive to leave a positive impression on everyone I work with, students and teachers alike. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? A job in which I have the opportunity to make a positive change. What are the most interesting aspects of your field?
