I have a city and guild in electrics, and also a city and guilds in fibre optic multi mode and single mode splicing and testing. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I personally consider skills much more of an advantage because the work is what matters to me and no amount of education teaches hard work. and problem solving skills etc, I think you learn more and gain confidence from skills you have rather than the education you had. Describe the benefits of working with others I like working as a team because I can work on much bigger jobs and they get completed faster because of more people but also because usually I get on well with people and have good social skills so it is sometimes nice to have people to bounce off of and ask questions to or they can get information from me. Describe the benefits of working alone for me the benefits of working alone is job satisfaction because once the job is completed I think I done that and am proud of it. Also I feel there is less chance of error because of only concentrating on the job in hand and not worrying about what anybody else is doing. What was your worst working experience? I consider my worst working experience to be general telesales work because I get no job satisfaction from it. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? The most important lesson I have learned is to work hard because the harder you work the better it feels and the more rewarded you are. What unique skills do you have? I am very social,I am also honest and loyal, I can work alone or as part of a team, I try to learn as much as possible now to better myself and hopefully my career. I am confident and very hard working.I dont mind working long hours, and I believe it is very important to have a job I enjoy rather than get paid ridiculous amounts of money and not enjoy it. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? At this moment My dream job is to get into the Fibre Optic industry in spain and basically to do what I used to do(e.g.splicing, testing running cables, civils work, working in and around comms rooms). What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The main interest to me is that i enjoy working with cables and tools and specialist equipment. I believe once I enjoy my job I should stick with it but its very difficult to find here. What are your Overall plans for your career? For the next few years at least I would love to work in the telecomms field and be the best at what I do. possibly in the long term I would like to work up to a higher position e.g. project manager so still going out to sites but also learning the office side of the job as well.
