| Language Teacher (English, French, German & Spanish) I am an Australian citizen of Sri Lankan origin now teaching languages, after giving up IT (info. technology) and Engineering. I have an Engineering degree from Peradeniya university(Sri Lanka) and a post graduate diploma on IT from Melbourne University (Australia). I have worked many years as an Engineer in SL & as an IT professional in Australia and in many other countries. I have work permits for UK & authority to work in SL, being my country of birth. In addition to my native language Sinhalese and my main language of studies & work English, I am fluent, near native, in French, German & Spanish. I have worked in these languages in other countries. I have been interviewed and have addressed audiences & trained people in these languages. I have French certification from Marie Curie University(Paris 7), German from Göethe Institute, Colombo. I have TESOL certification from a USA institute with distinctions. I know that certificates are nothing more than papers to show to the world and language competency does not emerge magically from a certificate alone, therefore, I do not base my credibility on these certificates alone. I am a good language learner, therefore, a good teacher. I know all the problems a language learner encounters, influenced by his native language, therefore, I know very well that there are no bad learners - only bad teachers. I never get angry with students - a 'bad' student is my challenge. I am now teaching English to migrants in Australia, the native language of some of them is a language I know. Motive for my teaching is far more than financial gains. |
