Sudan - Resume Rebuilding Southern Sudan Dr. Laban Ungai Shihembetsa (62.24.96.132) -
Now that the war is over, the people of southern Sudan need education, health facilities and infrastructure in place. There is need to think of indigeneous sustainable solutions including intensive use of the locally available materials in the construction of buildings. Structure plans and not master plans are needed for the urban settlements. This must start as a matter of urgency insteady of waiting for the people to do their uncoordinated settlement. I am an Architect/Urban Planner currently employed by the University of Nairobi as a Senior research fellow in the area of housing and building science. I have very wide experience in the area of Appropriate building materials and technologies. I am ready and willing to join our brothers and sisters in Sudan in rebuilding their beatiful country. We have peace in Sudan after a long struggle. The main task now is re-construction of Sudan as a city. This calls for various professionals. I graduated with a Bsc (Eng.) surveying from University of Nairobi in 2002. I am currently employed at a flower farm as head of surveying and land use planning. I would wish to be part of Sudan reconstruction team in my area of specialization (engineering survey, mapping/GIS, land survey, community development, property management etc).
