| Seeking guiding or biologist work for 2009; 10 yrs experienceI am looking for work in Svalbard for spring 09. I am a biologist by training (I have a Masters degree (Glasgow University, 2002) and I have worked for over 10 yrs in fieldwork, supporting research expeditions in N Canada (specifically the sub-ARctic), Iceland, New Zealand, and more recently, N Norway). Seabird work has been my specialisation recently, although I have also worked on fish (Scotland and Newfoundland, Canada) small mammals (Yukon Canada), large mammals (Quebec, Canada) specifically ungulates (Soay sheep, St Kilda, Scotland; Rocky Mountain Bighorn sheep, Rockies, Canada). I have no problems working independently outdoors. OTHER useful SKILLS first aid training mountain leadership training (UK) bird ringing experience (many species, incl, ducks and swans) working and camping in the snow, skiing (XC mostly) maintaining small field camps generator use, satellite phone and portable radio use dog sledding (have worked as a guide in Norway) using quad bikes summer climbing (some winter mountaineering and ice climbing also) I would like work supporting guiding or scientific project work in Spitzbergen/Svalbard.
