Position: Regional IT Manager North Asia. (China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong)

Kulicke & Soffa are a High Tech manufacturing company in the Integrated Circuit Chip field using clean room technology in the manufacturing process. They have 50% market share world wide in their market.

Environment: Hub and Spoke Wide Area Network, Cisco Switches and Routers, 35 IBM Intel based Servers with Windows NT4/2000/2003 operating systems, and Oracle 8i on UNIX, ACCPAC accounting systems. Oracle 11i ERP, BAAN, Exchange 2000, SQL Server 2000, Microsoft Project and Microsoft office. 3000 users region wide.

Responsibilies:

Asset Management of all IT&T assets in the company for China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Hong Kong.

Infrastructure planning, implementation, projects and support for the entire North Asia Region.

Outsourcing IT support functions for the region, including negotiating SLA’s and setting KPI’s

Project planning and Management for IT projects in the region.

Budget responsibility of US$ 2million for operations and US$4 million for projects

(Outsourced support contracts were paid out of the US budget not my North Asia Operating Budget)

IT Support and operations management for the regions 3000 users.

Compliance with regulatory statutes and industry body guidelines within the region

Position: Technical Site Manager/ IT&T Facilities Manager. Stellar Call Centre Hornsby.

Stellar Call Centre Hornsby is a 250 seat call centre running the 131500 transport info line, the www.131500.com.au website, Sensis Yellow pages, Unwired internet and various short term campaigns.

Environment: LAN Cisco Switches and Routers, 8 IBM and 4 Compaq Intel based Servers with Windows NT4/2000/2003 operating systems, and UNIX based ACD management system, Microsoft IIS. 3 Intel based IVR’s using Dialogic card technology.

Responsibilities:

Asset management of all IT&T assets for the Call Centre’

Staff management and training for 5 direct reports and 6 indirect reports,

Service level management for all IT&T operations

Project management.

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning for the Call Centre,

Hands on support of the Oracle Database and Microsoft/Unix operating systems. 30% of the time.

Support and operations management for all IT&T functions in the Call Centre.

Achievements;

My Disaster Recovery Plan was tested and found to be 100% effective for offsite disaster recovery. The call centre lost only 45 min of traffic from the time the Disaster was called until the new site was up and running and handling incoming traffic with all systems working perfectly.

Technical and operational planning to minimize the effects of a major Cisco Switch failure in the Call Centre meant absolute minimum downtime limits were met with minimal impact on operations.

Project management of the www.131500.com.au web site implementation.

Origin Energy: August 2000 to 15 April 2002

Position: Systems / Database Administrator, Trading and Development Branch

Environment: Hub and Spoke Wide Area Network utilizing Cisco Switches and Routers, 10 Dell Intel and 4 Compaq Servers Windows NT4/2000/2003 operating systems, and 12 Oracle 8i databases on NT4 and UNIX. Windows. Microsoft SQL Server 7/2000 on NT4 and Citrix 1.8, Microsoft IIS, Bloomberg, Reuters on 150 users in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Origin Energy Trading and Development was new branch in the commodities trading area of electricity and gas on the open market. They also ran off shore hedging in gas and oil. This branch had their own Financial Settlements and customer contracts databases for trading.

Responsibilities;

Support and operations management for all IT&T functions for the Trading and Development Branch

Database, Server, Desktop, and Laptop Administration and support

LAN/WAN administration and management

Disaster Recovery planning and implementation

Server and Database Backup and Recovery,

Infrastructure project planning and implementation.

Achievements:

Planning and Implementing the Development and Testing environments in Oracle for the organisation,

Infrastructure upgrade project for the integration of the companies new acquisitions in the Full Retail Contestability project.

Oracle Database upgrade from 7.3.3.1 to Oracle 8i

Oracle Database tuning to increase performance of background jobs

Serco Defence Services: March 2000 to August 2000.

Position: System / Database Administrator, Medical and Dental Contract.

Environment: Cisco Switches and Routers, 4 IPEX Intel based Servers with Windows NT4/2000/2003 operating systems, and Oracle 8i on NT, MIM’s OE, Tuxedo, Autosys. Windows NT4 Terminal Server and Citrix 1.8 and 50 users.

Responsibilities:

LAN installation, commissioning and support

Server and Desktop installation, configuring and support,

Application installation, configuring and support.

Systems Administration NT4

Oracle 8 Administration and support.

MIM’s OE administration and support,

Backup and Recovery planning and management,

Achievements;

This was the first implementation of MIM’s OE on NT4 in the Southern Hemisphere and only the 5th or 6th implementation totally in the world. When I started this contract I knew nothing about Oracle Databases, MIM’s, Autosys or Tuxedo. Despite this I still managed to install and configure the whole system and have it up and running properly and efficiently and on schedule for the project.

Project infrastructure implementation was done under budget and ahead of schedule,

Negotiating the expansion of the LAN to the Warehouse with Defence IT.

Planned and implemented the connection of the LAN to the SERCO WAN.

Midrange Software Design (MSD): September 1999 to February 2000

Position: Help Desk Manager and Technical Support Co-coordinator

MSD are and IBM partner specializing in AS400 IBM and INTEL Servers and desktops. I was employed to setup a help desk system for their customers and to control the work of 5 customer engineers.

I also did some network, Server and Desktop installations for them.

Queensland Ambulance Service: June 1996 to September 1999

Position: Communications and Operations Officer. I was responsible for taking call taking and resource dispatch and management and ad hoc desktop support.

Department Of Defence (Army): May 1993 to June 1996 (Still currently in the Army Reserve and fulfilling the same functions.)

Position: Network Operations Team Leader

In this role I was responsible for a team on shift, supervising the operations of the Defence Department’s Secure Voice and Data network in Queensland and the Northern Territory. I had to oversee the helpdesk operations, message switch, Database maintenance, Voice network Switch and Data switch. This network ran over in house links on Microwave, Satellite, PSTN, and VHF, HF radio links, and I was responsible for the operation of these links.

I carried out the following tasks daily:

Position: Communications Team Leader. I was responsible for a field team carrying out network voice and data operations over HF/VHF/UHF radio, PSTN, Satellite and Microwave links into the Defence Network.

Installation and operation of communications equipment via telephone, radio and satellite systems as well as office administration
