| Answers: Electrician costs for wiring a new steel building? I just had a new 40' x 50' steel building put up and I need to get it wired. I live in middle Tennessee. I need standard 200amp service. 1 breaker box. Four 8' florescent light bars hung from the ceiling. Two ceiling fans (I will supply the fans), two outside lights (I will supply the lights), five switches (two for the fans and three for the lights), and approximately 16 outlets. The building is totally unfinished on the inside so all of the outlets and switches will be surface mounted (meaning there are no interior walls and no holes to be bored, etc.). Everything is going to be run along the inside of the interior walls. What can I expect as far as labor charges and roughly what would materials cost? Do electricians charge by the foot, by the job or by the number of outletss, etc.? I need a frame of reference before I start taking bids again. The first bid I got was about 3 times what I expected ($6500.00). Please help me out on this. Thanks. |
