Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?
I believe that higher levels of formal education acts as a proxy for a persons ability to follow through with plans, make sacrifices in the form of opportunity costs during the time of education with the promise of greater access to work later on in life and provides a foundation for "knowing how to learn and perform research" that is necessary in every job. Jobs rely on a variety of on-the-job training that can not be taught in a classroom and often rely on skills that cannot be expected of future employees until they are in their role with a company.

My hobbies include computer programming. Have extensive experience with developing commercial and informational websites, databases, graphics, etc. But, I'm not just an IT person -- I have extensive experience as a researcher, project manager, brand manager, public relations person and business process analyst.
