I have managed large and small environmental projects through working with emergency and the federal emergency management agency. I can be very hands on, meaning I like to see the progress of projects materialize. I believe that the environment can be protected and a green economy created through tourism. I would love to live in a country where its beauty and natural resources are appreciated and properly managed. I have friends in Trinidad and have always loved their view of life. Geography/Earth Science with a minor in environmental biology NEPA Planner (transportation, housing, emergency management) ISO 14000 ASTM Phase 1 OSHA 40 hr health and safety EPA 40 hr health and safety Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? There's a lot to be said for formal education, however I have known many experts with environmental interests that have hands on experience and some with book sense but no real clue. Formal education gave me a solid base in which I continually educate myself in my field with or without formal classroom time. Describe the benefits of working with others I like when I can share something of value with another. I also can be given ideas by working from another person's point of view. Other people bring different skills to the table. Describe the benefits of working alone Focus. The ability to not have through go though the process of compromise which is negative in the sense that it takes time to come to a collective agreement before you can move forward. What was your worst working experience? Being asked to make fraud environmental documents rather than comply with environmental regulations and having to watch my own back in unsafe work environments. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? That this work is truly my passion. I love this Earth and I realize that people have an impact and that there is a way to blend together despite what the industry heads believe. The biggest cost is our water, air and flora and fauna. What unique skills do you have? I have environmental experience in military, government, research, and private industry. I also served as North Carolina Hurricane planner for four years and I served as senior environmental specialist over the eight southeastern states under the federal emergency management agency in the United States. I have designed and successfully implemented several environmental programs that have created over seventy -five environmental positions over a fifteen year period. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? I would love to create a green economy based on sustainability, tourism and environmental education. To live in a country where it's beauty is celebrated. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? It's the type of job that you have to enjoy research, fieldwork and know how to managed people of different sciences. No two projects are the same. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Managing a lot of people.
