Providing great customer serviceWhat can you bring to the Hospitality industry? Luckily for me, I was raised in this industry and had the opportunity to withness the good and bad in many locations throughout Trinidad and Tobago. For me, as a child, hospitality was a language. A language you had to master to be succesful, and can only be learnt through experience. It is an art where you find the balance between your self respect, respect of others, professionalism and customer satisfaction. Being fluent in this language allows me to automatically augment the efficacy of that particular organisation and position it for greater marketablility. What nationality are you? Trinidadian. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? My mother toungue is english and I am at an average level in spanish. I am currently continuing my spanish studies at the Venezuelan Embassy. Where in Trinidad would be ideal locations for you to work? Along the east-west corridor, from Arima to Port-of-Spain, and surrounding areas. What field do you currently work in? I have Managed a small restaurant and still hold a Manager's position for a food and beverage outlet. What fields have you worked in before? Most of my work experience lies in the Cucstomer Service industry, however I have done clerical, telemarketing and educational work. What qualifications do you hold? -More than 10 years experience in the customer service/ food and beverage industry. -Diploma in Business Management -Telemarketing Certificate -8 Passes at Ordianry Level -Spanish (average) Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? Experience is the best teacher, and man came before book. In all my years I have seen things that a person cannot translate into text. Because this field is so very interpersonal, a list of guidlines may not always be the best way to deal with a situation. What has to be learnt is the skill, and experience will always do a better job. You cannot always predict an outcome of personal behaviour. Describe the benefits of working with others I love people, and I enjoy making everyone around me smile. Working with others gives each person the oportunity to share ideas and learn from eachother's mistakes, so that we can all become better at what we do together. What is the most important lesson you have learnt in this industry? Everything you say and do with your customers can work for or against you. You must know when to make the right decissions. What unique skills do you have? According to endless comments, "you have a way with people!". If i caould bottle it, I'll gladly sell! What would you consider as your 'dream job'? One of my dream jobs is to help our country be better service providers. To work with others side by side and guide them to hospitable success! What are the most interesting aspects of your field? It's all about the people, and satisfying them. That is rewarding to me. How long to you see yourself in this field? As long as I live! I will continue to spread smiles and great service!
