Seeking Teaching JobWhat type of job are you looking for? I am seeking a job in the teaching industry, preferably at secondary school level and/or even with adults. What nationality are you? I am a Trinidadian. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? English is my native language but I also speak Spanish and French fluently. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I would like to work in my country (Trinidad) in the Port of Spain area because it is most convenient to me. What countries have you worked in? Only in my native country. What countries do you have a visa to work in? None at the moment. What field do you currently work in? None at the moment since I have just completed my tertiary education. What fields have you worked in before? I have previously worked as a teacher,in the public service (at a government office) and as a sales representative. What qualifications do you hold? I have 8 CXC passes (7 ones and a C), 4 A'level passes and a BA in Spanish and French. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? The both go hand in hand as they complement each other. Describe the benefits of working with others One can gain public relations skills and a higher level of productivity as more ideas are being shared. While working together various skills are also shared and each person can learn from the other. Describe the benefits of working alone One can be their own boss and is free to exercise any level of creativity without any level of constraint or without having to obtain permission as is the situation when working in a team. What was your worst working experience? Giving my all to an employer even though I knew I was over qualified for the job and being fired before the verbal contract was expired because I was a temporary worker and the employer wanted to hire more staff.I also felt exploited at the said job. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? Non sine pulvere palman which is latin for not without dust the palm. This simply means that one cannot succeed without hard work. What unique skills do you have? The ability to speak three different languages. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? Being an interpreter and having my own interpreting agency in Trinidad and Tobago. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Being able to interact with different people and imparting my knowledge of languages. What are the least interesting aspects of your field? Having to deal with a classroom of students who may be have different levels of learning the languages is a challenge but with experience this challenge can be overcome.
