It is policy in Tunisia that a foreign national is not allowed to fill a job that can be filled by a Tunisian, therefore finding any employment is virtually impossible unless you have a teaching or medical qualification.

yes thats true you wont find work there, however any old bugger can come to our country and steal our jobs, livelyhood, money, houses and anything else they fancy!!!!Whatever nationality!!!

it is possible to find a job there in tourisme or in foreign companies or open your own business.

go to specialised companies such as manpower or contact companies directly, but the best way is to find a job through freinds and connections, thats how the tunisians do.

to oussycat: i dont think that a tunisian bugger will go to UK and find a job.

Trying to find work in Tunisia can prove very difficult - as Jowan has said, it is virtually impossible!

You can only work in Tunisia if you have a properly drawn-up contract which has been endorsed by e.g. Ministry of Social Affairs.

If you do not have a personal contact who wishes to employ you or can help you meet prospective employers, you could answer advertisements appearing in the local press or place an ad yourself. You should register your CV and job application with the Bureau de l’Emploi Regional in the town where you wish to work.

You can also check out job vacancies in "La Presse" newspaper.

If you need any further info, please feel free to e-mail me.

Miss oussycat,

I wonder how hard you've been trying to find a job in Tunisia especially in the Tourism industry. Most of tunisians work during the summer and kinda rest during the year in the Touristy areas so there is tons of opportunities especially if you apply right before the summer.

You may walk into any hotel and find a job. I would start by contacting the ONTT which is the Office National du Tourisme Tunisien. You may also read the postings on the paper but you have to be able to read French at least. Also every city and town has an office called Bureau d'Emploi; you may visit them and they will help you.

It will be impossible to line up a job from where you are, you have to go there and fight for it just like everywhere else

You have a good chance landing a job especially in Tourism if you have high interest in the industry.

If you still can't find one please let me know and I'll make sure to line one up for you.

Good Luck.

PS: No one is tealing your livelyhood or your fancy life, there is a place for each and everyone of us on this earth, so let's try to make it better place full of love NOT DESPISE.

I recently visited Tunisia and fell in love with the place. I am interested in working there but dont know how to go about looking for jobs. I have a degree in biology and was wondering if there are many jobs there in the field of science or in universities. My french is poor but I am willing to work on it and I know no arabic. Also I have 2 children and so am wondering how hard it is to get them into the education system there? Thanks for your help any replies will be gratefully received.

Thanks a lot

Hiiiii everybody, I didn't know before that there are foreigners who seek to find a job in Tunisia and to be honest I didn't believe it!!! Anyway you are welcome, however, finding a job in Tunisia is not easy at all. You have to keep trying. You have to know that we don't mind having foreigners working here but it is just that we, ourselves, couldn't find a suitable job. I, for instance, have a four years degree which we call a "Maitrise". I studied English Language and literature and specialized at linguistics yet I couldn't find (neither me nor my collegues) until now a good job. I had to work in a call center as an English call agent and it is really needless to say how bad it is to work in a call center. I had to quit because I was done with it. I hate it but I was obliged because I have a fiancé and we want really to get engaged (he is one of my collegues)we need to work in order to save money. Celebrating a marriage in Tunisia is costing. Again you are welcome, all the best for all of you. See you.

F.A.O Zied Souissi,

Salem,

your the first person that seems to know what they are talking about!

If possible I could use your help!! I'm half british, half tunisien and I am looking to move back to bizerte! Therefor I am trying to secure a job. I would like to work in the hospitality industry as this is my current career. I currently work for Marriott Hotels as assistant F&B Manager. I would be looking for a similar position or something in the lines of Bar or Restaurant Manager.

I would like to find work in Tunis. With it's huge International commercial business, I think this would be the ideal location for me as it is also easy to travel from Bizerte.

If you know of anyone who could help me, or even if you could point me in the right direction to get started, it would be of great help!

Please feel free to contact me, my e-mail

maryams_jafa@hotmail.com

Many thanks

Maryam Thabet

living in tunisia became one of the dreams for alot of foreign nationals and tunisian living abroad who wish to come back with the same standard of living that they have overseas, the truth coming back or relocating to tunisia has been a big success to some of my neibourghs who are frensh, romaniens, italiens, either they set up a business or still living of their rental income from abroad plus their retirement all this gave some people the real taste of living with out worries, lots of europeen had put their smart idear in to action and brought them success, talking from cataring like franko restaurant near miramar hotel which is one of the best resto in hammamet and where the president and his family go for diner in some of their nights out, another italiens who set up icecream places, where they ve been making money that never been made in their life history in italy like the one near the hammamet cemetry, jane who is british national set up a british resto and she loves tunisia to death has bee here in around 20 years, the truth of the matter life seems to bee made easier for foreigners in tunisia than tunisian, to find the way is not the same for a tunisian and a europeen national, exaample;if a tunisian apply for alicence for internet caffe he will be waiting for years, a europeen applys for it he gets it in few days, the bottom line keep trying till you find the way and the answer to what you looking for, build up your own courage and never give up there are people from selling book from car bootsale to a commercial director in henkel firm, your faith is in your own hand make things easy you get it perfect, you complicate things, you get stack my wife is amercican/british she love it here very much, good luck for all of you these are few lines written by a tunisian who lived in europe for 15 years in at least 8 countries and now final destination tunisia where i started.
