Job search in the IT and Internet Marketing fields

What type of job are you looking for?

My expertise is best in Internet Marketing and IT Software, but I am opened to a wider range of offers, since I am considering relocating to Istanbul. I am looking for a full time job with a normal work schedule. Travelling for professional purposes could also be considered.

What nationality are you?

I am Romanian.

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

English - advanced speaking, writing and reading; Hungarian - fluent in speaking, average in writing and reading; Turkish - average in speaking, writing and reading;

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I am looking for a job in Turkey / Istanbul, since I am considering relocating there.

What countries have you worked in?

I have worked in Romania only, but for short periods of times I have worked remotely from different countries.

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

None so far.

What field do you currently work in?

IT Software. I am currently IT Business Analyst for the biggest oil & gas company in Eastern Europe (OMV Group & Petrom Romania).

What fields have you worked in before?

Internet Marketing and Web Analytics. I have a 3 years experience with Hewlett-Packard in SEO, Web Analytics and Marketing Effectiveness strategies for the hp.com websites in 37 EMEA countries.

What qualifications do you hold?

Bachelor degree in Business Management; Programming with PL / SQL - diploma from Oracle University; Project Management - diploma from a certified PMP trainer: Axioma

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Definetely skills. I would not completely frame a person by his educational background. First of all the educational background might not reflect the person's actual areas of interest. And these are the areas where that person will exceed expectations. Second, the best and the most efficient experience is gained at the job, performing, therefore an employer must analyze the results at the former jobs in order to correctly evaluate a person's potential, and not necessarily look at the educational background.

Describe the benefits of working with others

There are multiple, I cannot make a exhaustive list here: First of all it's the best way of learning from experienced and skilled colleagues, of developing your own skills. Second, it's proved to be the most efficient ways to avoid risks, due to a better quality management (every member can perform a QA and the team can brainstorm on possible solutions to avoid the risks). Third, it's a challenge for each team member. And challenge is raising skills inside every person that otherwise would not come out. There are more, but I will stop at these major 3 benefits.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Well, time management is usually performed and followed better when working alone. There are less constrains, unknown factors and dependencies, so you can evaluate a more precise deadline.

What was your worst working experience?

During my second job, I was supposed to perform an accounting job, but the accounting department was so overloaded that they could not find the time for handing over to me any of the daily tasks. They kept assigning me administrative tasks such as arranging and sorting files. It was a dissapointing experience and I gathered lots of frustration from this. I understand now this happened because of the lack of organization and task management.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

You cannot achieve a goal alone, you need to work closely and trust your team. Only this way the success is guaranteed. Not to mention that the feeling of success is much sweeter when everybody put their shoulder into it.

What unique skills do you have?

Well, tricky question, since no skill is unique :) On the other hand, I am best at organizing tasks and coaching team members. I would say I was appreciated as a team player, an outgoing team member that you can talk anything to, and be opened and honest without any fears.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

Definetely a multinational company, with international work relations, exposure to other cultures, to professionals from all over the world, that you can learn from. A nice, but challenging climate with enthuziastic team players.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

I love being able to study the consumer's behavior and, based on that, develop new strategies that will influence it... and then analyzing the second loop :)

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

I love this field, for me it is perfect, I could not say there are aspects that I consider uninteresting, otherwise I would be lying.

Please replace this with a question of your own

Would you consider hiring a over-qualified person for an entry-level job, just having in mind that the person wants to work in that field so much, that it can start from the beggining again and fight it's path to the suitable position?
