hairdressing or office work

What type of job are you looking for?

I am looking for a job prefferably in the hairdressing trade as I am a professional hairdresser but I have also worked in a bank in the U.K so I also know office work.I have been hairdresssing since I was 16 so I have 10 yrs exp when I lived in the U.K I managed a shop and trained many young students from the college to a professional and high standard who then went on to come and work with us.Whilst being here I have pursued my career in hairdressing by doing mobile hairdresing, but to be honest it isn't enough for me and I would really like to be back working in a salon again or another type of office/tourism environment.

What nationality are you?

Iam English

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

Since residing in Turkey(Alanya) I have learnt how to speak the language and can now hold a conversation and understand what is being said and I am continuing to expand my knowledge of turkish.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

I am looking for work in Turkey in the city of Alanya because me and my mother live here.We have been here for almost 2 years now and have decided to not go back to the U.K since I have recently got engaged and will be getting married next summer.

I have only ever worked in the U.K.

I do not yet have a work visa but my application is on it's way.

I have worked in the hairdressing field on and off for 10 years but have also worked in a bank, retail a butchers and a fitness salon.

What qualifications do you hold?

I have 6 GCSE'S and my city and guilds NVQ level 2 hairdressing.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I would consider skills more important life skills especially because it is a continious expansion whereas formal education is a one off experience.

Describe the benefits of working with others

I love working with others, being part of a team getting other peoples opinion as i always think that counts. working with others is also good because you can share your responsibilities and it's always nice to interact with other people and also learn from each other.

Describe the benefits of working alone

working alone is good because you only have yourself to answer to, you make all the decisions I do thrive off working alone which i have done before, you get that feeling of self success knowing that everything you have achieved you have done it by yourself.

What was your worst working experience?

My worst working experience was when i was 14 and worked in a butchers the meat used to make me feel ill but i had to work because i needed the pocket money!

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

The most important lesson that i have learned is to not crack under pressure whilst in the public eye and another one is that the customer is always right(even when they are sometimes wrong!!)

What unique skills do you have?

I am excellent at interacting with people im a real peoples person, love chatting to people but i am a great listener. As regards to hairdressing my unique skill is my foil work it is a very high standard and i pride myself on that.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

My dream job would be to have my own salon here in Turkey but it's difficult to start up just yet as i am saving to get married first.

Colouring is the most interesting aspect of my field because you can totally change the look of someone in an hour due to hair colour i think it's amazing it can take years off someone as with a good hair cut.

The least interesting aspect of my field i find is doing the stock take apart from that everything else is interesting.
