I speak English at the highest level. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I am looking to work in the Turks & Caicos Islands, The British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands. What countries have you worked in? I have worked in Jamaica and in the Cayman Islands. What countries do you have a visa to work in? I do not currently have a visa. What field do you currently work in? I am a Guidance Counsellor. What fields have you worked in before? I have worked in sales, construction and teaching fields. What qualifications do you hold? I have a first degree in General Studies -Guidance and Counselling and a diploma in Primary Education. I also have certificates in Electrical Installation and Computer studies. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I believe that the formal education is more valuable than skills. This is because the formal education sets the groundwork for learning a skill effectively. Describe the benefits of working with others When working with others my knowledge will be enhanced. I will certainly learn from them. I will also be able to pass on my knowledge to others for their own development. My misconceived ideas as well as theirs will be corrected. The end product of our combined efforts will be more effective. Describe the benefits of working alone When working alone the individual will be able to use his/her initiatives. He/she will also be able to plan according to what he/she can accomplish at a comfortable space. What was your worst working experience? My worst working experience was during my first year in teaching. I was employed as a pre-trained teacher at the time. I made several serious blunders and efforts to get help proved futile. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? I do not know everything and even the students have great ideas to share. What unique skills do you have? I am able to reach slow learners with ease. I am also able to make the students believe in themselves. What would you consider as your 'dream job'? I consider the post of Educational Officer my dream job. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? The most important aspects of my field include seeing the gleam of light in the eyes of the students which indicates that they have grasped the concepts I am teaching; watching the self confidence of my students growing and blooming daily and the satisfaction of seeing them a few years later in the fields they wanted as their careers.
