Seeking a job as a pre-primary or primary school teacher

What type of job are you looking for?

I am seeking a job as a pre-primary or primary school teacher.

What nationality are you?

Grenadian

What languages do you speak (and at what level)?

English - proficient

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

After serious thought I have decided on Turks and Caicos. This decision came about due to the fact that the islands are small, in the caribbean (I love our climate),and so diversified. It will be a change in culture but a home away from home.

What countries have you worked in?

I have worked solely in Grenada.

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

I do not have a work visa.

What field do you currently work in?

Presently I am a teacher at a Primary school.

What fields have you worked in before?

I have worked mainly in teaching over 7 years, a little of Telemarketing 6 months and customer service 1 year.

What qualifications do you hold?

I have 6 passes in cxc, with an associate degree and i'm presently attending the St. George's University, seeking a degree in Management Information Services.

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

I think both formal and skill education are equally important. Formal which will guide one on what is generally accepted- be it rules or steps, and skill, which truly brings understanding of what is taught and improves techniques.

Describe the benefits of working with others

For me working with others gives me an opportunity to learn to work as a team and appreciate how different we are as individuals, taking i topic and understanding it in many different ways, thereby enriching the process.

Describe the benefits of working alone

By working alone one can pace themself, having individual freedom to express one's own style or technique. Also, one will not have to worry about hurting others feelings , as well as being intimidated by others.

What was your worst working experience?

My worst working experience occured while working as a telemarketer, where on does the same thing over and over every single day. There is nothing to complete or start. This can be rather frustrating and tedious.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

The most important lesson I have learnt in my career is, 'Festine Lente' - "Hasten slowly". This has truly given me encouragement and motivation during my darkest hours. 'Hasten Slowly'.

What unique skills do you have?

I was told that i am a good deflector of conflict, a great listener and an even better advisor.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

My dream job is one day owning a business, where my ideas and creativity can reach its highest potential,- not forgetting the financial rewards and freedom such a job will bring.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

The most interesting aspect is the close interaction and intimate relationship a teacher has with his/ her students. A teacher is almost (even more) than a mother to the students.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

The least interesting aspect of my job is not being able to get the helpa nd support i need from parents, who simply cannot see the value of a good education, for their own children.

What do you hope to achieve?

I hope , at the end of my career,I'ld have been able to pass on values, a wealth of knowleddge, hope and self-worth to those whom I may be in contact with.

How can potential employers contact you?
