Formal Education is more valuable. Because formal education is the base of everything. skill is not valueless.

Working with other is beneficial as any thing you can discuss with others (As two heads are better than one) and reach to decision. You can avail you vacation without any problem as your backup will be always available.

When you are working alone you can make decision immediately without waisting any time. I worked alone most of the time in my career.
