Jacob Thomas

Tennis coach

Tennis coach

I am a very experianced tennis coach with over 20 years of coaching in India and Oman. I have worked with people of all age groups and playing levels/talents. I prefer to teach beginners and intermediate level players. Never believe any coach who claims that he/she can teach all levels of tennis players!! Thats impossible and impractical

Very fluent in spoken and written English. Can speak Hindi and Arabic.

What country or area are you looking to work in and why?

Willing to work worldwide if possible. Prefer countries of the Middle East like UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, etc.

India and Oman

What countries do you have a visa to work in?

Oman and India

What field do you currently work in?

Accounts, Proof reading, Call Centre (vioce process) and tennis coaching

I have clerical and accounting experiance, Building repairs and maintenance, Indoor and outdoor gardening paintenance, Tennis court and facility repair/maintenence,

What qualifications do you hold?

Bachelors of Commerce, 1982 ITF certified tennis umpire in 2009 PTR certified coach in 2010

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Education is just a "educational process". What is much more important is to be street smart and TEAMPLAYER. Common sence and practical thinking is most important in life

Describe the benefits of working with others

Life is a daily learning process and this helps to update our knowledge and work experiance and also make the changes and adopt new ideas and strategies to make you a better person in work and personality. Also, being a very health and diet conscious person, it helps me motivate everybody I meet to stop bad habits and become more health and diet conscious.

Describe the benefits of working alone

Everything has its own plus and minus points. The biggest advantage of working alone is that you are your own boss and you can control/handle every decision and at the same time enjoy/regret the good/bad decisions/results on your own. Also, it helps you be much more responsible and dedicated/committed in your work assignments.

What was your worst working experience?

Working in tennis clubs and academies where the management has no basic idea of how to run/organise tennis classes. What happens is that everything has to be done by me and whatever you achieve, they get most of the credit - when they dont deserve it. Some tennis parents have no tennis knowledge and they keep advising you on how to train their children and they dont realise that their children are bot as talented as they think and they want their kids to be world-beaters!! When that dont happen, they start blaming the tennis coaches.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

Life is a continuously learning process and the more kinds of different jobs you now, the more you will remain employed - whatever the economic crisis worldwide. I have learned that no job is undignified and I am willing to learn any job which helps me earn additional income.

What unique skills do you have?

I am a very committed and have strong Christian values and virtues. I am also very family minded and not a late night party person. But I have also learned to know and understand other religions and realise that all religion and Gods teaches love, peace and harmony. This helps me "educate" people about having an outlook that has no barriers of race, colour and creed. I am a great motivator and can motivate anybody in the right way of life and living. Also I am a great teamplayer and work with any community and in all age groups.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

Any job where I derive most job satisfaction and which is a learning experiance. Money is not everything in life for me. I would ike to work as long as possible

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

Tennis is a great socialising game and it exposes you the best people in any country. It also helps you make more and more friends internationally and its very educative to meet and experiance the different methods of tennis playing skills from different countries.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

I am a very avid reader and love to read and read anything dealing with General Knowledge, Health & Fitness, Home & Garden, Pets, Worldwide travelling, Sports and games and of course about Biblical topics. Unfortunately a lot of people think tennis coaches are only interested in tennis and are IDIOTS in the other topics of knowledge.

What character qualities do you have to make you better in your profession?

I am a very dedicated and committed in whatever I do. I am very quality and result oriented and this makes me a workaholic as well. Money is not everything for me and so I am very honest and sincere in my actions and re-actions. Beyng a profession you have to radiate brotherhood and family minded relationshis and a good pleasing personality.

How can potential employers contact you?

I check and answer my emails regularly and can be contacted on jacob_thomas2004@yahoo.com
