It depends on type of work. Formal education is considered to be urgently needed in some fields of work which require a lot of theoretical and professional knowledge and pre-knowledge, like physicians, nurses, pharmacists, other healthcare workers or contruction engeneers. Of course, only theoretically gained knowledge is far from beeing enough for this kind of workers, they have to prove it, enhance it and handle it in every-day practice. On the other hand, jobs which can not influent directly the safety or health of population or harm the environment need more skills than education to be successfully done (reporters, secretaries, translators, tourist-guides etc.).
