I am Manoj Pathiraja with 19 years of experience as senior managerial level in Ceylon Tea Plantation Sector and Sri Lankan Water Industry. During my 19 years experience I have held positions as Senior Superintendent and General Manager. While discharging my duties on this positions I was able to getting touch with people, thereby most of the people related issues were managed by me in order to achieve best results. Staff training on their need basis, performers appraises, Motivation to achieve better results, disciplinary inquiries and day to day administration were done, social welfare activities with community development programmes were also arranged as a part of our corporate social responsibility acts.
Japanes 5S house keeping methods was introduced to all my work places and it was developed KAIZEN levels in plantations.
Plantation worker mentality in Sri Lanka was described as dependency syndrome was changed in to participatory management and productivity levels were improving tremendously. Workers were shown empathy kind firm fair administration was introduced.
The Plantation sector where more than 1900 all levels of employees reporting to me and they were shown a carrier path and performance based rewards systems, promotions systems and compensation systems were implemented. For the 1st time in plantation management history fee internet/computer axes education school was setup under my guidance. Most number of social welfare activities were introduced and productivity improvements were shown as best human relationships were maintained in my work places. Owing to this happy work place concept and quality as a way of life concept was introduced. Tea plantation was certified for ISO 9000-2000, HACCP system, 5S, KIAZEN and also was awarded a National Safety Award.
In my 2 years in the water industry I was able to get the following quality certifications at the factory, ISO 9001-2000, HACCP, SLS, ABWA. We are also position at No.1 bottle water supplier to the Nation in Sri Lanka. I have shown 35% Growth in the operations during my 2 years.
