I have recently completed a 3 year post as an Emergency Medical Officer in the Sheikh Zayed Hospital and Medical College, Rahim Yar Khan, Pakistan. I feel that the experience gained in this post has enabled me to further develop my professional skills, both as an individual and as part of a team. I believe I can show that I am a reliable, efficient person who can integrate into any environment. In addition to the above, I have been practicing as a private General Practitioner with my own surgery for approximately 7 years. 1994 – 2000: Medical Degree (M.D) in General Medicine from the Medical State University of Grodno, Belarus. Core subjects included: Medical Biology and Genetics (excellent), Microbiology, Virology and Immunology (excellent), Social Hygiene and Public Health Administration with Medical Statistics (excellent) and Medicine (excellent).
1993 – 1994: Full course of studies at the Preparatory Faculty for foreign citizens at the Belarusian State University. Subjects included: Russian (satisfactory), Maths (pass), Physics (good), Chemistry (good), Computer Science (pass), Biology (satisfactory) and History (pass).
1989 – 1993: Secondary School Examinations at the Army Public School, Rahim Yar Khan, Pakistan. I obtained 554 marks out of 850 – Grade B. Subjects taken: Urdu (89/150), English (111/150), Islamiyat (46/75), Pakistan Studies (40/75), Elective Maths (49/100), Physics (73/100), Chemistry (77/100) and Biology (69/100).
Experience
July 2004 – April 2007: Emergency Medical Officer at the Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan, Pakistan.
Duties included:
Quick assessment of emergency patients including a provisional diagnosis and immediate treatment.
Liaising with appropriate specialised departments to seek guidance as to the immediate care requirements of patients.
Monitoring of outpatients.
Individually conducting minor operative procedures.
Assisting Consultant Surgeons with major operative procedures.
Conducting rounds of emergency ward and Intensive Care Unit and taking short and long histories of the illness and thereafter making the necessary calls/referrals to the relevant departments.
Supervision and maintenance of the emergency pharmacy.
Conducting counselling sessions with patients and attendants regarding the present illness.
Initial management of trauma patients.
Undertaking the post of Assistant Medical Superintendant which involved the overall management of the Hospital in the absence of the Superintendant.
Conducting medical legal work (to include autopsies, reports to the Police, etc).
Court attendances to provide medical opinion.
July 2003 – June 2004: Senior House Officer at the Sheikh Zayed Hospital in the Surgical and Medical Unit.
Duties included:
Dealing with elective and emergency patients.
Minor surgical procedures.
Assisting in minor and major surgery.
Pre-operative assessment.
Post-operative management.
2001 – 2008: General Practitioner Surgery with Pharmacy
Duties included:
General medical practice.
Drafting prescriptions and dispensing medication.
