Being a professional social worker,I am looking for a job in an international NGO in Dubai, so that I can put in my efforts in program with reference to various social projects for social / global development. What nationality are you? I am an Indian but want to work in Dubai. What languages do you speak (and at what level)? I can speak English, Hindi and Marathi. What country or area are you looking to work in and why? I wish to work in Dubai (UAE) because I am already working with an International NGO and would like to work in Dubai as my husband has settled down in Dubai. What countries have you worked in? I have worked only in India and I had been to Nova Scotia , Canada in May 2010 for a Certificate course of 3 weeks on "Community Development, Leadership by Women". What countries do you have a visa to work in? At present I dont have any visa, but I can get it for Dubai, as my husband is already working there. What field do you currently work in? I am presently working as a Program Officer in CHF International, India, based in Nagpur and working on projects of Solid Waste Management and livelihood for slum dwellers. Also I had worked as an Administrative Coordinator with CHF International since Nov, 2008. What fields have you worked in before? Earlier I have worked specifically for women empowerment in rural and urban areas with reference to violence against women, gender sensitization, and women rights. Apart from this I had worked with underpriviledged children like street children, institutionalized children, blind children etc for their, psycho-socio, and overall development. I have also worked as an contributory lecturer for 6 months in a Social work Institute. Overall I have been working on various social projects for community development along with specialized counselling. What qualifications do you hold? I have completed my Bachelors and Masters in Social Work with specialization of 'Family and Child Welfare' . Also I have completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counselling. And recently I have completed a certificate course in Women Leadership from Coady International Institute, StFX, Canada. Apart from this I have participated in various educational and social workshops at national level to update my knowledge and skills. Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why? I feel that both Formal education and skills are valuable. Because formal education gives us the basic knowledge and conceptual understanding but on the other hand the efficiency in skills help us to actualize the basic formal knowledge into practice. the skills also makes the work more specific, and creative. Describe the benefits of working with others When one works with others it becomes like team work. A team work always hep people to share knowledge and responsibilities, show more quality work and specific role distribution based on individual talents and capacities. Working with others always gives motivation towards achieving the goal and makes the working environment healthy and creative if taken positively. Describe the benefits of working alone Working alone gives an opportunity to put in individual thoughts and ideas and concentrate on the working responsibilities on our own to achieve individual targets. What was your worst working experience? Till now i didnt experience such a bad working experience because I try to understand the nature and roles of other team mates. What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career? I learnt, "Never say no". I never said no to any challenges at work because i feel that once we accept the working challenge , we can find ways to learn and fulfill it eventhough, we may face many difficulties through the process. And fortuinately i have been successful in all my professional activities and challenges. What unique skills do you have? I have following unique skills : 1. Excellent communication skills 2. My dream job would be the one in which I would get an opportunity to work on certain global social issues (for underpriviledged parts of society), where I can put my knowledge and creativity to achieve my professional and personal growth. I wish that the orgainzation and myself can benefit from each other to gain organizational goals and work satisfaction. What are the most interesting aspects of your field? Following are most interesting aspects of my field : 1. In the social field / development sector, the most interesting aspect is that one gets to work with individuals and communities. thus one deals with a variety of human beings and pysycho-social problems or community issues. 2. And presently, many NGO's or social organizations are making developmental efforts for uplifting and rehabilitating the neglected and underpriviledged sections of societies by various life changing projects. 3. Social field always help individuals to help themselves solve their life problems or community problems by adding support and trainings by making it participative one. What are the least interesting aspects of your field ? The least interesting aspect of my social field is that many a times one has to go through various social, political and economical hardships while working on an issue / project.
