Emergency Nursing
What fields have you worked in before?
My specialty is emergency nursing, although I have experience in neurology, cardiothoracics, psychiatry and I am currently studying my Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
What qualifications do you hold?
Post Grad Cert in Occupational Medicine, Safety and Health Currently studying towards Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?
I consider both to be of equal importance. I greatly enjoy formal education and am studying in order to enhance my knowledge and become eligible for humanitarian aid work, however, I believe practical skills and experience is as important and consolidates prior theory. I am strong in both fields.
Describe the benefits of working with others
Team work is a wonderful part of nursing. Whether offering practical emotional or educational support to each other team work is an essential skill. I am practiced in both leading a team and being a team member.

Self Directed learning is an excellent learning opportunity, and allows you to discover where your skills lie, as well as challenging your motivation, knowledge, skills and creativity.
What was your worst working experience?
The untimely death of a patient, especially a child, is always extremely hard for me.
What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?
A positive outlook and quiet confidence in my personal practice are the most important aspects of my nursing learning. Being positive and calm as well as having a sound knowledge has proved to be both reassuring and safe to all of my patients.
What would you consider as your 'dream job'?
My current job, nursing. Any nursing I find extremely rewarding, and if it combines travel then I am in heaven.
