Vietnam. I choose Vietnam because it has gone through some very difficult times and also because it is in Asia.

MBBS (Calcutta University) i.e. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery

Which do you consider more valuable? Formal education or skills and why?

Formal Education is more valuable for it can polish the skills that one has. On the other hand no matter how skillful one might be one will be handicapped if there is no training/education at the University level.

Describe the benefits of working with others

One gets to meet and understand people of diverse cultures. One also gets to know and learn the different system of administration and working systems. On the while it broadens one's horizon.

One can work independently and is saved from interference from others.

What was your worst working experience?

Never had a bad working place. With the wrong attitude even the best place will appear bad.

What is the most important lesson you have learnt throughout your career?

The most important lesson learnt in my three decades as a doctor is that at times sympathetic managemant lone is not enough: one has to occasionally emphathize also.

What unique skills do you have?

I am a hard worker and each person I treat is not just a sick person on the line. Each person I treat is a HUMAN with all its strengths and frailties and I always take a holistic approach.

What would you consider as your 'dream job'?

I have no 'dream job'. A job is a job which must be done with dedication and satisfaction.

What are the most interesting aspects of your field?

The most interesting aspects of my job is the reward one gets in healing people. The joy, comfort and gratitude that a doctor receives not only from the patients but from his/her relatives and friends.

What are the least interesting aspects of your field?

I have no 'least interesting aspects'.
